Welcome to the Lassen County Office of Education (LCOE) web site! We hope that the information will be helpful, and we believe that the services of the LCOE, as well as all Lassen County schools, are second-to-none. The educational opportunities are outstanding in Lassen County, with services from birth to community college level. Our office takes pride in its special education services and the special events that we sponsor. These include the Lassen County Children's Fair, Academic Olympics, Spelling Bee, Geography Bowl, Science Fair, and Vocational Olympics. In addition, Lassen County is a great place to live and it offers numerous recreational activities for every season. The county abounds with scenic beauty and natural resources. The area is abundant in waterfowl, fish, deer, and antelope. The county has a unique combination of desert, lakes, mountains, and valleys. Summer temperatures average 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, while winters average 40 degrees Fahrenheit in the daytime with nightly lows of 20 degrees Fahrenheit or less. Lassen County offers clean air, friendly people, and excellent schools. The communities that make up Lassen County are extremely supportive of youth programs, both educational and extracurricular in nature. There is no better example of this than the annual Sober Graduation celebration, which has offered prizes and services amounting to over $27,000 for the graduates. Lassen County is a wonderful place to learn, play, and live. - Jud Jensen County Superintendent of Schools
