Located on Eagle Lake:
  • Second largest natural lake that lies entirely within California
  • Ideal for fishing, sailing, and water skiing.
  • Home of the big, fighting Eagle Lake cutthroat trout, idigenous to the lake.
  • Unspoiled beauty and serenity.
  • Less then 20 miles from the town of Susanville.
  • Varied topography, ranging from forest lands to high desert
  • Abundant natural wildlife and vegetation.

Youth Camp Fees:
Youth Groups: $202/week or $41/day up to $202 plus $3 per person, plus electricity and propane as metered based on current charges.
Other Groups: $87/day plus $10 per person (children 4 and under stay free); no electric or propane fees.

Youth Camp
The Lassen County Youth Camp is situated on 67 acres of primitive habitat on the eastern shore of Eagle Lake. It is a unique area that provides access to mountains, desert, forests, streams, brush-filled flats, lake shore, and marshes. Many locals consider it the best fishing site on the lake. The area's natural beauty is breathtaking.

The camp consists of:

  • A well-equipped kitchen and dining hall
  • Separate boys' and girls' bathrooms with shower facilities
  • Five dormitory cabins with bunk beds and propane heaters that can sleep 18 to a cabin.
  • A lab and a classroom used by the Lassen County Outdoor Education Program (special permissions, a deposit, and an extra charge is required to use these buildings)
  • An observation deck
  • Campfire and picnic areas
  • Fenced tennis court area
  • The caretaker's house for the resident caretaker
  • Food service available through contractual arrangements

The Lassen County Youth Camp has been run by the Lassen County Office of Education since 1987. Under the direction of this organization and many caring individuals, the camp is kept ready for use. First priority for use of the camp goes to youth groups, but is available to organizations, churches, family groups, etc. For the most current rental rates and availability information, please call:

* There is a $250 refundable deposit for the camp.

** To rent the Classroom and/or Lab by special arrangement with the Outdoor Education Coordinator, is $20/day for the Classroom and $10/day for the Lab with an additional $250 refundable deposit.
